Gadsden County Sheriff Morris A. Young stands with Major Morgan, School Board Member Eric Hinson, Parents and students at a Back to School Block Party and book bag giveaway.
The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office with the support of Havana Middle School, Dr. V. Norris, Principal, sponsored a back to school book bag giveaway block party on Saturday August 10, 2006 from 10am to 2pm at the Havana Middle School Gymnasium. Over two hundred elementary and middle school kids and parents participated in activities provided. Face painting, basketball, food and music, provided by Cadillac Joe, were a few of the activities provided for the kids. Gadsden County Sheriff's Office Community Justice Program also provided fingerprinting and identification cards for the kids. Over 200 book bags were given away to elementary and middle school students.
The book bags contained paper, pencils, pens and folders to help those who needed the assistance with back to school items. Sheriff Young who also arrived at the party and interacted with the kids and parents approved the funds for the event. Sheriff Young would like to send out a special thank you to the Gadsden County School Board and staff, a special thanks to Dr. V. Norris, Cadillac Joe and staff, Men Who Make A Difference, the staff at Havana Middle School, volunteers from the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office and the community volunteers who helped make this a success.
